What do you love about design?
I love the problem / the research / the creative process / the evaluation / the craft / the satisfaction / the celebratory beers afterwards. All good things.
Why do you teach?
Each day I’ve experienced a wealth of inspirational ideas from students of all different ages, nationalities, backgrounds and life-experience. It’s a rewarding and privileged position.

What or who are you loving right now?
- Design for Music: tDR + Warp
- Music for Design: The Field
- All my old pairs of Adidas Originals (and all the ones I don’t own yet)
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
A really anal monospaced feel, but with enough flexibility of a normal body copy face — which exactly describes Relative Faux by Colophon Foundry, which I use on my website. It’s definitely up there with those that I wish I could claim to have designed myself.
What’s your favourite blog?
It used to be Typetoken or Collate, but they don’t get updated as often as they used to. I try to find my inspiration from as wide / far / random as possible, so I guess I don’t really have a favourite these days (apart from when it comes to Fantasy Football, where I have firm favourites, yet have never helped me win my league).
