What do you love about design?
Design covers so many platforms, everyday is different. It’s exciting and a constant learning experience. I love meeting and getting to know so many interesting people, finding solutions no matter how big or small the problem.
Why do you teach?
I have always loved working as part of a team. Collaborating with and helping to push other designers has always been the most rewarding aspect of design, so teaching seemed a natural progression.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington?
Originally I was a maths and stats graduate working as a business analyst. My design career started in 2009 when I completed a course at Shillington College in Manchester. I began working in studios in the north of England and then moved to Melbourne where I lived and worked for a few years, after a period of freelancing I took full time role at branding agency Savi.
Last year, I returned to London and have been freelancing at studios such as Checkland Kindleysides, DesignStudio and Pollit & Partners.
What or who are you loving right now?
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
Akzidenz-Grotesk from Berthold Type Foundry or Brown from the Lineto Type Foundry.
What’s your favourite blog?
So many good ones but one I always check out is BP&O and It’s Nice That is always a great source for inspiration.
