Terms and conditions for Shillington United Kingdom

See below for our Shillington United Kingdom terms and conditions.

Please note that our policies vary between countries.

If you are planning to study in New York, review our United States terms and conditions.

If you are planning to study Online, review our Online terms and conditions.

*In these terms and conditions, Shillington College Limited will be referred to as “Shillington UK”.

Upon email receipt of the Student’s confirmation of enrolment, a legally binding enrolment contract is enacted between the Student and Shillington UK. The Student will be deemed to have received the Confirmation of Enrolment on the date on which the email attaching it is sent, if sent on a working day prior to 5pm. If sent after 5pm or on a non-working day, it will be the next working day.

It is the student’s responsibility to have access to a stable internet connection outside of the classroom.

All students are required to have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud and Sketch programs and a computer that supports these programs outside of the classroom, for the duration of the course.

Cancellation by the Student within 14 days

Within 14 days from deemed receipt of the Confirmation of Enrolment, the Student has the right to cancel this agreement at any stage without giving any reason and without incurring any liability.

To exercise the right to cancel, the Student must e-mail the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form to the Student Experience Manager (uk@shillingtoneducation.com). To meet the 14 day cancellation deadline, the Student must confirm e-mail has been received before the cancellation period has expired.

A full refund of the deposit shall be made within 14 days of Shillington UK being informed. We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as the Student used for the initial transaction, unless the Student has expressly requested otherwise. The Student will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.

If the enrolment contract is enacted within 14 days prior to the course and the Student starts the course within the cancellation period, the Student is required to pay Shillington UK an amount which is in proportion to the tuition services that have been performed until the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form is received. Those costs will be calculated proportionately based on how much tuition has been provided as against the total amount of tuition and fees due for the entire course.

Cancellation or withdrawal after 14 days
After 14 days from deemed receipt of the Confirmation of Enrolment, the Student, withdrawal or cancellation will incur the following charges:

  • Withdrawal/cancellation four weeks or more prior to course commencement; the deposit will be refunded minus a £250 administration fee.
  • Withdrawal between four and two weeks before course commencement; the deposit will not be refunded, unless the Student’s position in the class is filled. If the Student’s position is filled, their deposit will be refunded minus a £250 admin fee.
  • Withdrawal within two weeks of course commencement; the deposit will not be refunded.

To exercise the right to cancel, the Student must e-mail the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form via e-mail to the Student Experience Manager (uk@shillingtoneducation.com).

Failure to notify Shillington UK of withdrawal before 5pm close of business Friday prior to the course commencement results in the Student being liable for the full course fees.

No refunds to students who withdraw once the course has started—after the 14 day period—for any reason whatsoever. The Student is liable for the outstanding balance.

Shillington reserves the right to move the course into a remote learning format if, for whatever reason, access to any of its classroom premises becomes unavailable at any time due to circumstances beyond Shillington’s control.

Shillington reserves the right to move a classroom-based course into a remote learning format for whatever reason after the course has commenced. Where possible sufficient notice will be given.

Shillington reserves the right to cancel courses for whatever reason before the date a course is due to commence. In these circumstances, a full refund of all monies paid in respect of fees for the course will be refunded.

Any financial losses suffered by a student as a result of the cancellation by Shillington of a course shall be borne by the student. Shillington accepts no liability for consequential losses.

The Student Handbook details the equipment and other expenditures the student is expected to or may wish to fund themselves.

Where extra bank charges to Shillington UK are incurred by virtue of the Student’s chosen mode of payment, these shall be paid by the Student.

Course fees must be paid in accordance with the payment plan selected for the course applied. The Student will receive an e-mail welcome letter from the Shillington UK Finance Team before the commencement of the course confirming the exact amounts and dates of the payments the Student will be required to make.

Shillington UK reserves the right to refuse or withdraw an application, cancel an accepted place on the course and terminate this agreement, and the Student’s enrolment, for any of the following reasons:

a) If the Student has not paid the course fees by the date they are due.

b) If the Student is paying by instalments, the instalment payment is cancelled or fails, and you fail to make alternative arrangements for payment within 14 days.

c) If Shillington UK believes that your standard of English is not sufficient to maintain full understanding of the course contents.

d) If the Student’s attendance falls below 95% of classes in any one month period without pre-authorisation from Shillington.

e) If the Student is found to have committed a serious breach, or repeated breaches, of Shillington UK’s Terms and Conditions or Student Code of Conduct.

f) If running or continuing a course becomes unviable for Shillington UK. In this instance, Shillington UK will refund in full any of the course fees paid, including the deposit. Shillington UK cannot be held liable for any remedy, consequential loss, damage or compensation beyond this.

No refund of any of the course fees, including the deposit, shall be made in the event of cancellation under (a) to (e) above. Shillington UK cannot be held liable for any consequential loss, damage or compensation arising from the cancellation.

Any refunds of international payments attract additional administration costs and exchange rate fluctuations.

  • Additional costs for equipment and other resources required for the course shall be paid for by the Student. The Student Welcome Pack, sent with the Confirmation of Enrolment, sets out the equipment and other resources required.
