Shillington United Kingdom terms and conditions.

*In these terms and conditions, Shillington College Limited will be referred to as “Shillington UK”.

Upon email receipt of the Student’s confirmation of enrolment, a legally binding enrolment contract is enacted between the Student and Shillington UK. The Student will be deemed to have received the Confirmation of Enrolment on the date on which the email attaching it is sent, if sent on a working day prior to 5pm. If sent after 5pm or on a non-working day, it will be the next working day.

Cancellation by the Student within 14 days

Within 14 days from deemed receipt of the Confirmation of Enrolment, the Student has the right to cancel this agreement at any stage without giving any reason and without incurring any liability.

To exercise the right to cancel, the Student must e-mail the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form to the Student Experience Manager (uk@shillingtoneducation.com). To meet the 14 day cancellation deadline, the Student must confirm e-mail has been received before the cancellation period has expired.

A full refund of the deposit shall be made within 14 days of Shillington UK being informed. We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as the Student used for the initial transaction, unless the Student has expressly requested otherwise. The Student will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement.

If the enrolment contract is enacted within 14 days prior to the course and the Student starts the course within the cancellation period, the Student is required to pay Shillington UK an amount which is in proportion to the tuition services that have been performed until the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form is received. Those costs will be calculated proportionately based on how much tuition has been provided as against the total amount of tuition and fees due for the entire course.

Cancellation or withdrawal after 14 days
After 14 days from deemed receipt of the Confirmation of Enrolment, the Student, withdrawal or cancellation will incur the following charges:

  • Withdrawal/cancellation four weeks or more prior to course commencement; the deposit will be refunded minus a £250 administration fee.
  • Withdrawal between four and two weeks before course commencement; the deposit will not be refunded, unless the Student’s position in the class is filled. If the Student’s position is filled, their deposit will be refunded minus a £250 admin fee.
  • Withdrawal within two weeks of course commencement; the deposit will not be refunded.

To exercise the right to cancel, the Student must e-mail the Shillington Enrolment Cancellation Form via e-mail to the Student Experience Manager (uk@shillingtoneducation.com).

Failure to notify Shillington UK of withdrawal before 5pm close of business Friday prior to the course commencement results in the Student being liable for the full course fees.

No refunds to students who withdraw once the course has started—after the 14 day period—for any reason whatsoever. The Student is liable for the outstanding balance.

The Student Handbook details the equipment and other expenditures the student is expected to or may wish to fund themselves.

Where extra bank charges to Shillington UK are incurred by virtue of the Student’s chosen mode of payment, these shall be paid by the Student.

Course fees must be paid in accordance with the payment plan selected for the course applied. The Student will receive an e-mail welcome letter from the Shillington UK Finance Team before the commencement of the course confirming the exact amounts and dates of the payments the Student will be required to make.

Shillington UK reserves the right to refuse or withdraw an application, cancel an accepted place on the course and terminate this agreement, and the Student’s enrolment, for any of the following reasons:

a) If the Student has not paid the course fees by the date they are due.

b) If the Student is paying by instalments, the instalment payment is cancelled or fails, and you fail to make alternative arrangements for payment within 14 days.

c) If Shillington UK believes that your standard of English is not sufficient to maintain full understanding of the course contents.

d) If the Student’s attendance falls below 95% of classes in any one month period without pre-authorisation from Shillington.

e) If the Student is found to have committed a serious breach, or repeated breaches, of Shillington UK’s Terms and Conditions or Student Code of Conduct.

f) If running or continuing a course becomes unviable for Shillington UK. In this instance, Shillington UK will refund in full any of the course fees paid, including the deposit. Shillington UK cannot be held liable for any remedy, consequential loss, damage or compensation beyond this.

No refund of any of the course fees, including the deposit, shall be made in the event of cancellation under (a) to (e) above. Shillington UK cannot be held liable for any consequential loss, damage or compensation arising from the cancellation.

Any refunds of international payments attract additional administration costs and exchange rate fluctuations.

  • Students must attend a minimum of 95% of classes. If attendance is less than 95% students may not be awarded a certificate and may not be allowed to participate in the graduate exhibition.
  • Full-time students must not miss any more than four days of classes in order to be awarded a certificate.
  • Part-time students must not miss any more than six evenings of classes in order to be awarded a certificate.
  • If a doctor’s certificate is provided, a student’s attendance record will not be affected for valid sick days.
  • Any long-term sickness (exceeding four days for full time, or six evenings for part time) will need to be discussed with Shillington UK.
  • Being late to class is not acceptable. If students arrive within fifteen minutes after a class has started they will be recorded as missing half a class. If they arrive any later than fifteen minutes they will be recorded as missing a full class. This rule is enforced after break times also.
  • It is your responsibility to discuss any attendance issues with your teacher. Students who are in jeopardy of failing the course due to poor attendance will receive a written warning.
  • Additional costs for equipment and other resources required for the course shall be paid for by the Student. The Student Welcome Pack, sent with the Confirmation of Enrolment, sets out the equipment and other resources required.
  • Course fees must be paid in accordance with the payment method selected at application. Where bank charges are incurred by Shillington UK due to the Student’s chosen payment method, these shall be paid by the Student.
  • The Student may request a course transfer four weeks or more before course commencement. Requests must be made by e-mail to Shillington UK (uk@shillingtoneducation.com).
  • Once a course has commenced, a course transfer will only be permitted under extenuating circumstances, at the absolute discretion of Shillington.

Students must e-mail Shillington UK (uk@shillingtoneducation.com) as to any changes to their personal details including email address, telephone number and residential address.

  • Any student work undertaken while studying at Shillington UK may be reproduced and used in promotional material throughout the world. Including, but not limited to print, advertisements, website and social media.
  • The student agrees to grant Shillington UK the non-exclusive right by way of license for this with or without attribution to the student.
  • The student may opt out of this licence agreement by e-mailing Shillington UK (uk@shillingtoneducation.com).
