How is Shillington different to a UX/UI bootcamp?
- We teach you the foundation of graphic design, not just the technical skills
- We teach you how a brand is visually applied and interacted with across several different mediums from web, to social media, to print
- We provide real feedback on projects to push your creative thinking
- Students are encouraged to incorporate digital design into all projects in their portfolio to display a wider variety of skills
- Successful digital designers need to be problem solvers and conceptual thinkers, not just technically proficient in the programs
What we cover in digital design:
- UX/UI overview
- Introduction to the fundamentals of Figma (industry software)
- Learn to identify user personas and user behaviors
- Learn the basics of wire framing and digital prototyping
- Digital focused briefs—designing a responsive website and an app
These skills are incredibly valuable when applying for digital design jobs—we’ve even had students study at Shillington after working in the UX/UI industry who wanted to upskill their design thinking to advance in their careers! We’ve had several Shillington graduates go on to work in digital design at Google, Apple, Warner Bros, Spotify, &Walsh, Future Brands & more.

Will I need specific software to attend the graphic design course?
You need to purchase a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat). Unfortunately Shillington students are not eligible for a student discount in the United States.
You will also need to download Figma, a digital design app, and Slack, an industry relevant communication tool. These are both free. During class time, we also utilise Google Drive to back up work—meaning you can open your work at home. This, in turn, means you’ll need to have your own Google account.
