What do you love about design?
I love the variety of ways one can approach and execute ideas in a brief, while solving real client problems.
Why do you teach?
After working in the industry for almost a decade, I wanted to give back to the design community, and this is the best way I know how. Being at the forefront and witnessing the students progress I think is super rewarding.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.
After graduating from Raffles School of Design (distinction average), I was quickly thrown into the deep end at Saatchi Design, working for global and local businesses, as well as the government. After working at Melhuish & Co for 8 years, I decided it was time to branch out and begin a freelance career to see how other studios, creative directors and teams worked within the design industry. In that time, I freelanced for Formist, Hulsbosch, and also Born & Raised.
What or who are you loving right now?
Loving Braulio Amado’s work for Good Room. Seeing his process and insane illustration style is mind blowing.
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
I would be Akzidenz Grotesk. Always embrace Akzidenz in your design process 😛
