Marketing Assistant Tia Ajala was born in London and went to university in Southampton where she studied Illustration. She then began to work in London with children publishers in design, marketing and social content where her love for visual communication grew.
What do you love about design?
I love the endless options of approach and medium used within design, because it can be used to provide such freedom and diversity in the way we communicate—that is what I find most beautiful.
Why do you enjoy working in design education?
I enjoy being able to part take in students journey of becoming better equipped to achieve their dream careers, in a supported and uplifting learning environment.
What keeps you busy outside of Shillington?
I enjoy spending time with family, often baby-sit and sometimes work on designs for children’s books and posters.
What or who are you loving right now?
I love celebrating and discovering non-traditional communities of designers. It keeps me open-minded and always challenges my perspective.
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
I’d probably say Goldleaf. It’s not complicated yet still edgy.
