Learn from designers with industry expertise.

I feel privileged that I get to nerd out about design every single day.

What do you love about design?

We as designers have so much opportunity to make change, and so much responsibility. I love that design is able to change perceptions, solve important problems, and make meaningful change in us and our world. It’s incredible to consider the amount of precious influence that designers have, and how we can choose to use it to make things better. Design and creative thinking is powerful.

Plus! I love colour, type and paper. And that’s a bit of a perk.

Why do you teach?

I feel privileged that I get to nerd out about design every single day. I get to be surrounded by people that are excited by design and the chance to change thier careers. I get to meet a bunch of very different people every 3 months, with different backgrounds, stories and personalities.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

Before Shillington, I ran my own small freelance studio in Melbourne. The studio was on the second level above a hairdressing salon. Always good hair! Always!

I also spent some time working alongside a few NGOs in Kenya and Uganda to help develop their communications strategy. Technology in the developing world is going absolutely gangbusters, and the impact that design can have within communities and the international development industry is huge and extremely exciting.

What or who are you loving right now?

I love puppies, peppermint and tiny things.

If you were a typeface what would you be?

I’d kind of love to be Futura. Probably Futura Medium. But I’m probably too clumsy for that.

What’s your favourite blog?

The Dogist. Yes. Yes it is. Also this. Please have a nice time with that one.
