Marketing & Communications Assistant
Marketing and Communications Assistant Laura Walton is a product of and advocate for arts education. Texas raised and theatrically trained, the design of costumes led Laura to New York City where she extends her skills to the design of experiences and handmade books. While studying design and international affairs, Laura dabbled in creative, organizing roles across government, museums, and education where she happily lands at Shillington.
What do you love about design?
I love how design can prompt change and shift perspectives. Visualizing your ideas is so powerful on an individual level and sharing them is essential to the collective – we’re building everything together all the time.
Why do you enjoy working in design education?
I’m excited to have a role in supporting the campus experience and amplifying results of the journey. Design education is empowering, you see the process of someone learning how to communicate in an entirely different language and choose that direction themselves.
What keeps you busy outside of Shillington?
New York City! I’m constantly looking for new exhibitions, outdoor events and enjoying long walks.
What or who are you loving right now?
I love watching Bob Ross paint.

Harrington! I like the curliness worked in to each character.
