What do you love about design?
Design is a vessel to understanding other people, cultures and industries outside of our own profession. I love when a project can teach me about a different area of life I wouldn’t have otherwise encountered.
Why do you teach?
When I was in school, I was extremely lucky to have passionate, supportive teachers who I still consider mentors and friends. For me, teaching is a way to pass on my own experiences, and give back to an environment that gave me quite a lot.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.
When I first started out I was working in small design studios as an intern and junior designer until I landed a job at Pentagram in New York. After a few years of working there, I decided to venture off on my own as an independent designer. I have since worked on all kinds of projects for all kinds of clients.
What or who are you loving right now?
Liana Finck and her very honest depictions of the human experience.
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
Hmm…anything ‘grotesque’ since they are distinctively imperfect.
What’s your favourite blog?
I spend an unhealthy amount of scrolling time on Fonts in Use.
