What do you love about design?
I love how design crosses all industries, from science to fashion and everything in between! As a designer you are constantly exposed to new things on a daily basis which means there is never a dull moment and you are constantly learning.
Why do you teach?
I love how challenging and inspiring teaching is, no day is quite the same. You are definitely kept on your toes by the students! I am also a total people person. I love nothing more then to get to know the students as individuals, watching them grow, develop and create things that they did not know was possible.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.
I worked within the exhibition design industry for a few years, creating identities for museum exhibitions. More recently I worked for a multidisciplinary design agency in London, specialising in branding and digital work.
What or who are you loving right now?
At the moment I am loving Studio Feixen, I’m OBSESSED with their instagram. An old favourite is the Amsterdam based Studio Dumbar, which I have loved since I was a student. I still find myself still going back for inspiration, such stunning work!
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
