Maddy Ritchie

Multi-disciplinary designer Maddy Ritchie has spent the last few years working between Europe and Australia. Creating content for award-winning agency LOOP in Austria gave her the skills and confidence to then branch out on her own. She’s worked with clients such as Puma, Kate Spade New York and Audi—with projects taking her all over the world. Freelancing full-time has allowed her to juggle her creative pursuits, working with photography, graphic design, illustration and murals. Maddy is loving the creative adventure at Shillington and being able to share her skillset and experiences with our students.

What do you love about design?

I love that I get to use a variety of skills to find creative solutions. Design is everywhere and I really enjoy immersing myself in all the areas that are on offer within this evolving industry.

Why do you teach?

The ability to take all the bits and pieces I’ve learnt through my design career and be able to mentor others is really exciting for me. It’s a great feeling to know that you’re able to pass on skills and knowledge to help someone take their first steps into the design world.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

I’ve worked within a variety of roles both within Australia and overseas. Whilst working at LOOP in Salzburg, I created campaigns for clients such as Puma, Audi, Corona, Grundig and Redbull. For the last two years, I’ve been freelancing full-time, working in graphic design, photography, illustration and murals. It’s been great to juggle all of these areas that I’m passionate about and I’m looking forward to passing on that experience onto my students.

What or who are you loving right now?

Getting to know Melbourne and meeting new creatives.

If you were a typeface, what would you be?

Bouchers

What’s your favourite blog?

Not a blog but I love Lauren Hom’s comments about the design industry and life in general.
