Shillington seemed like the fastest way to break into the design industry without taking out a huge loan or sacrificing two or more years in a full degree program.

What were you up to before studying at Shillington?
Before Shillington, I was working as a brand strategist at a digital ad agency.
Why did you decide to study at Shillington?
I had always been interested in design, and had done some graphic design in high school and college, but I never had any formal training. While I was working at the ad agency, I realized that I was way more interested in the work the designers were doing, so I started to research design programs. Shillington seemed like the fastest way to break into the design industry without taking out a huge loan or sacrificing two or more years in a full degree program.
Where are you working now?
I’m working at Moment, a design consultancy that creates digital products for companies in finance, media, healthcare, and lots of other industries. At Moment, designers get to tackle a broad range of tasks, including everything from facilitating user testing to finessing final screen designs.
Why do you love working as a designer?
Design is a lot more than making things look good. It’s a way of thinking. Designers cut cubes out of fog. We get to tackle abstract problems and make them tangible.
What would you say to someone skeptical about Shillington?
You’ll work harder than you probably ever have in your life, but it’s definitely worth it.
