What do you love about design?
I love that design is a universally understood form of communication used to solve problems! And, I love that every designer will interpret the exact same brief differently. I love that design is always evolving—and as such, I’m always learning.
Why do you teach?
I have always had a passion for design and brand and as a graduate of the part-time course myself, I have experienced first hand, how it can change your life. Equally, I get so much energy seeing people develop and go after their goals. Teaching design at Shillington is rewarding in so many ways.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.
I run an independent creative studio called Studio Yves, formally established in 2020 in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia. As Creative Director, I’ve worked on and directed projects across varying industries. We love sustainable brand design for new businesses and creative campaigns for clients moving through their growth phase.
I love illustration too! And the more a do in my personal time, the more it appears in my professional projects!
What or who are you loving right now?
I am forever inspired by the work of American artist, Neil Krug—he creates dreamy, psychedelic scenes, playing with colour, design and photography. He has worked with the likes of Lana Del Rey, Givenchy and Tame Impala to name a few. If you don’t know his work, CHECK IT OUT!
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
