Meet our teachers

Shillington Online Teacher

I love learning and find that in helping others learn, I learn a lot myself.

Annette Dennis

Annette's Portfolio

Annette has global experience across a broad range of sectors, having lived and worked both the UK and US over the last ten years before returning to Australia. In 2017 Annette founded the Melbourne-based independent publishing imprint Dossier Industries, producing tactile and engaging printed literature on a wide variety of subjects through both commissioned and self-initiated work. This year Dossier has landed a table at NGV’s Melbourne Art Book Fair—running from 17—27 March if you’d like to check out some of Annette’s amazing portfolio in-person!

Oversharing My Selves

Annette designed Sarah May’s novel—Oversharing My Selves. A softcover tome in words and pictures. Holding up the physical body as a trophy of a life lived, a vessel of both beauty and trauma, and an odometer to our growth; Sarah May’s first poetry collection examines the idea of self-exploration as a serious and whimsical pastime. It discusses the rejection of shame, the pursuit of transparency and the resolve of resilience.

Teaching is a wonderful exchange in which I get to share my experience and insights and in return students inspire me with their fresh perspectives and limitless ideas.

Marssaié Jordan

Marssaié's Portfolio

Marssaié is a creative director and brand designer living and learning in London. Throughout her career she has elevated design thinking—leading teams in design that challenges the status-quo. As the creative director of a children’s publishing company. She loves commissioning amazing upcoming creatives and collaborating with them on something physical/tangible like books.

Black to Front

Commissioned by Renaissance Studio to direct and design the set for Channel 4 Black To Front bonus content. Black To Front was a day of programming featuring Black presenters, actors, writers and experts, contributors and programme-makers. As a part of C4’s ongoing commitment to improve Black representation on-screen and more widely in the TV industry. The inspiration was contemporary opulence—creating a rich yet minimalist set design that celebrated the guests and kept them at the forefront.

Shillington Melbourne Teacher

I’ve always been obsessed with design before I even really knew what it was.

Wayne Smith

Wayne's Portfolio

After departing from editorial—Wayne spent the majority of his professional design career working in the branding sector. Before Shillington he worked as a designer at Cornwell in Melbourne and prior to that at Saffron Brand Consultants in London. He currently runs his own small design practice in Melbourne and loves being back in the design education environment—where anything is possible.

Ikebana

At Cornwell, Wayne worked as part of a team that created the branding and marketing campaign for Ikebana—Japanese-inspired luxury residences in Melbourne. The Ikebana process gives special regard to balance, harmony and form. These principles seemed to echo the architect’s vision perfectly, the name and brand idea soon followed.
