This position gives you the chance to play an essential role in connecting New Yorkers with the critical information they need to get to know their food. By creating unique and engaging content, you’ll provide our food community with cooking tips, stories about our farmers, facts on food transparency, and much more.
Example projects and responsibilities:
Review video interviews with our farm partners and identify sections to share on social media platforms
Create Instagram stories, gifs, and visual content around easy recipes, farmer profiles, produce features, and food transparency issues to make information clear and easy to digest (ex. What does pasture-raised label mean on egg cartons?)
Pitch content ideas on sustainability/wellness/food systems to founder
Write, edit, format, and post blog content, optional
Create a social media calendar and draft posts for Instagram and Facebook
This is an opportunity for social media-savvy writers and food nerds to build up a portfolio while reaching hundreds of food loving New Yorkers to help inspire a more sustainable and flavorful food system.
Highly motivated and independent worker, capable of taking initiative on specific projects
Experience copy editing, writing, formatting text and images
Experience with Adobe or graphic design platform
Able to communicate questions to team and ask for feedback or clarification when needed
Curiosity and enthusiasm for sustainability, local food systems, cooking, writing, and media
Experience creating content for other publications or your own blog or social platform (preferred)
Basic photography skills (preferred)
3 months or longer
6-12 hours a week, depending on your schedule and availability
