Learn from designers with industry expertise.

Design is so much more than just aesthetics. It is the stories and messages we impart and surround ourselves with.

What do you love about design?

That at its heart it is about communicating. That is about problem solving. That as designers we play an important role as potential agents of change. Design is so much more than just aesthetics. It is the stories and messages we impart and surround ourselves with.

Why do you teach?

It is immensely rewarding to be part of someone’s journey to achieve their dream. Being a teacher allows you to look at design again with fresh eyes. The student’s enthusiasm and passion are contagious.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

I have worked in boutique design studios, within the advertising and broadcast industries and for the cultural arts sector in such institutions as the The Museum of Sydney and The Historic Houses Trust of NSW. For the last few years I have run my own freelance business.

If you were a typeface, what would you be?

Brandon Grotesque is the font I would want to be. Functional with a warm touch and a distinctive elegance. I wish!

What’s your favourite blog?

So many to choose from, but I love that womenofgraphicdesign is helping to reduce the disparity between male and female representation in design.
