Learn from designers with industry expertise.

I’m a firm believer that if you share what you’ve learned you create space to learn something new yourself

What do you love about design?

I’ve found that good design solves problems but great design creates more. Design is a never ending evolution, and that excites me because I get to be apart of that plus add to its evolving nature. As it’s often said; “In art you make something that doesn’t make sense, but in design, you have to make sense.”

Why do you teach?

For me it’s about giving back, I’m a firm believer that if you share what you’ve learned you create space to learn something new yourself. To help people be prepared for entering the creative community is a great honor, it’s so exciting and rewarding seeing the students grasp what they have learned and then execute those skill sets.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

I started out doing freelance while working odd jobs before landing a full time designer role with a wine startup company called Vinomofo. While working there I learnt how design and business work together.

What or who are you loving right now?

I’m really liking what the team at Field Guide are producing. They are a very human centered design team who work hands on with their clients. Frame Creative get what’s happening in art and culture and they deliver stunning designs. They are the perfect blend of old school service and new school skills.

If you were a typeface, what would you be?

GT Eesti Display. It’s a nice blend of minimal and modern.

What’s your favourite blog?

Here’s a mix of my go-to blogs; Invison for their scope of articles from how to give good feedback to how you can have your best ideas in the shower. 365 Designers can be a rabbit hole of design inspiration from animation, UI/UX, illustration and type. I’m a huge fan of Medium, with an infinite range of topics being discuss from Product Design to why designers should understand business.
