Learn from designers with industry expertise.

No day in design is ever the same so there’s never an opportunity to be bored.

What do you love about design?

Design allows me to do what I love each day and sadly, not many people can say that, so I see it as a huge privilege. If you’re reading this and you’re one of those people, then listen to this.

Why do you teach?

I teach because it’s nice to be able to pass on what I have learnt so far and by teaching, I’ve found that I’ve learnt so much in terms of my own design and process—it definitely keeps you on your toes! Over the last 4 years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some incredible people who have been brave enough to embark on the Shillington journey. I feel very honoured that I have been part of their design career and I get so much satisfaction out of seeing nice people do well in life.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

I started out in editorial and art-direction and then moved to an integrated agency doing more campaign and digital work. I then took the plunge into the world of freelance so now, no two days are ever the same, so there’s never an opportunity to be bored.

What or who are you loving right now?

Willem Sandberg, APFEL, How I Built This podcast, Works that Work magazine, Arcade Fire, Modernist Estates blog, my bike, learning to code, Alain de Botton and last but not least, having just come back from Colombia… traveling.

If you were a typeface, what would you be?

I’d prefer to be a hand-painted sign, ideally created by Steve Powers.

What’s your favourite blog?

I’m obsessed with the the incredible observations and storytelling on 99percentinvisible.org.
