What do you love about design?

I love how design and creativity can evoke positive change.

Why do you teach?

Having experience in a Creative Director’s role, away from some great projects, the most job satisfaction I received was nurturing my design team and seeing them grow. Seeing some of the progression of our students, who come from a varied background is quite incredible. I am always proud when seeing them excel in their new paths and unleashing the creative talent they didn’t think was possible.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

When not taking photos of everyday smiles in the environment, I’m obsessed with branding. I am taking a strong interest in the strategic side of branding, which results in me reading and writing more these days.

What or who are you loving right now?

How us as creatives are having to adapt to fast evolving digital world, how technology is pushing more creative and “out there” thinking.

If you were a typeface what would you be?

Gotham. Honest, friendly and hard-working. I’d like to think I am resemble those attributes, I’m definitely no non-sense and get the job done.

What’s your favourite blog?

As a brand obsessive it has to be Brand New, but I also like Design Taxi a lot, they feature a lot of great ambient media creative work.
