Learn from designers with industry expertise.

I love the whole challenge of design, from the excitement of the initial conversation to the relief of reaching a purposeful solution.

What do you love about design?

Every design brief asks me to answer a unique question in a way that has never been done before. I love the whole challenge, from the excitement of the initial conversation to the relief of reaching a purposeful solution.

Why do you teach?

I was lucky enough to be taught by a great bunch of lecturers who helped shape and grow my passion for design. Teaching allows me to give potential designers the same support I received and I hope they will be able to enjoy their work-life as much as I do.

Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.

Since graduating in 2009 I’ve worked for design agencies in the UK and Australia for clients both big and small. A couple of years ago I started up a studio with my partner Vivian and It’s been a very rewarding experience; we’ve put our own design thinking into practice and we’re producing work that we are proud to call our own.

What or who are you loving right now?

I’ve recently been reunited with my small library of design books that I love flicking through. I admire the work of Alan Fletcher and I find I can pick up any of Adrian Shaughnessy’s books anytime.

If you were a typeface what would you be?

Maybe Gill Sans—a slightly awkward Brit, but does a job.

What’s your favourite blog?

I often look for inspiration on type foundries such as youworkforthem and Hype for Type.
