After living and breathing design for 15 years it still excites me.

Anthony Wood
Global Managing Director Anthony Wood has worked as a senior designer at a number of leading ad agencies, from Havas Worldwide to Ogilvy&Mather. In his spare time, Anthony takes on pro-bono passion projects, such as the Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival or designing for start-ups and artists and is the founder of House of Mockups.
What do you love about design?
I love that you can communicate something in an instant without even using words. That you can change peoples perceptions, solve problems and influence in a positive way. And make things look pretty along the way!
Why do you teach?
It is seriously the most satisfying job that I have had. There is something amazing about sharing your knowledge with others, opening them up to creative ways of thinking and building on the skills and knowledge they bring with them. It’s a total buzz seeing someone who couldn’t use a computer at the start of the course graduate and go on to have their dream career.
Tell us about your design career outside of Shillington.
Shillington keeps me pretty busy, but I still manage to fit in some love jobs for pro-bono clients like the Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival, artist and start ups. After seeing thousands of portfolios, I recognised the need for quality mockups for designers, and founded House of Mockups. Prior to Shillington I was working as a Senior Designer in ad agencies in London and Sydney.
If you were a typeface, what would you be?
I would be Gotham. To quote from the H&FJ website … “assertive but never imposing, friendly but never folksy, confident but never aloof”.
